3 Simple Steps to LET IT GO

If you're like me, you've probably realized at some point or another that there are more than a few things you're holding onto that you know aren't serving you. But let's be honest: letting go can be HARD to do. 

Want to know where to begin? Follow the steps below, which are part of a mini-meditation that I've adapted from a fellow colleague in the coaching industry.

Visualization is powerful, and this exercise will have you feeling lighter in no time: 

  • Sit somewhere quiet where you can relax for a few minutes, totally undisturbed. (This could literally be in your car at the grocery store parking lot if it needs to be. Nothing fancy required)
     
  • Close your eyes. Take a deep, full breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Do it again. Now imagine that you're holding a string attached to a large balloon of your favorite color (or any color you like). Imagine putting all of the negative emotions you're feeling into that balloon. Anything negative that you're feeling such as frustration, fear, hurt, guilt, etc., go ahead and stick it inside of that balloon. Put in as many as you like - it could be one or multiple. 
     
  • Take another deep, full breath and as you do, let go of the string. Picture the balloon floating up and away. Take another breath, and when you're ready, open your eyes. Savor the new-found clarity and peace that you feel. 

 

Repeat this visualization exercise as often as you need to for increased calm, clarity, and focus.
